Most common materials used in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) are activated bentonites. HEADS offers the best quality bentonite products for HDD, microtunneling, oil and well drilling, as well as diaphragm walls and heat pumps.

Bentonite is an absorbent aluminium phyllosilicate, in general, impure clay. Bentonite clay is composed of microscopic platelets consisting of layers of aluminum hydroxide held between layers of silicate atoms. These platelets are stacked one on top of the other.Bentonites with a high content of montmorillonite, for obtaining the required parameters at relatively low concentrations of 3-5% are mainly used for the drilling mud preparation. The essential features of bentonite are high dispersability, ability to adsorption, ion exchange, swelling and thixotropic properties.

Polymers are large molecules composed of repeating structural units. Synthetic and natural polymers are commonly used in drilling fluid technology. Multifunctional polymers are characterized by excellent efficiency at low concentrations, they increase rheological parameters of fluid and act as inhibitory agents and filtration and friction reducers.

Products can be supplied, according to customer preferences, in the form of powder or a suspension of polymer.
